Debbie is a 1991 graduate of The College for Creative Studies in Detroit MI. She studied traditional illustration techniques and favored an ink and watercolor style. In 1993 she saw her first published work with the children's book, Walking with Clara Belle. Shortly after her publishing debut she became a mom and decided to take a break from her professional artwork to dedicate more time to raising her two children. Along the way, she did some volunteer artwork in her community and picked up some recreational art projects designing goalie masks. During this time Debbie decided to experiment with different styles and mediums including the benefits of digital tools.
Through trial and determination Debbie has devised a style that encompasses everything she loves about illustration. This includes the spontaneity of hand rendering, the ease of digital printing, as well as, the depth and brilliance of traditional oils.
Debbie lives in Holly, MI with her husband, Gunnar, and their two children, Jamie and Drew.
